The Durham Co-Operative Nursery School has been an integral part of the community for over fifty years. The Co-Op was established in 1956 by a group of women who believed in the importance of offering a quality early childhood education to the children of this community. It fosters a supportive and engaging learning environment where families can meet other families and forge friendships that continue long after pre-school.
We aim to inculcate in our children a sense of independence, good self-esteem, and respect for each other and the world around them. We believe that by providing them with an enriching environment, patience, and encouragement, the children will explore, discover, and master their world.
Parent involvement is essential to the school’s philosophy. We serve as board members, help raise funds for the school, and volunteer in the classroom. We work together to gain a better understanding of child behavior and development, to foster new friendships, and to strengthen our sense of community.
